Nihonbashi is a historic district often called the birthplace of Tokyo. During the Edo period, it flourished as the starting point of the Five Major Highways that connected Edo with the rest of Japan.

Today, Nihonbashi beautifully blends the past and present of Tokyo. Long-established shops, historic buildings, and modern commercial complexes stand side by side. Let’s enjoy a relaxing walk while experiencing the historic atmosphere of this fascinating area.

First, we will meet at a café where you can enjoy English conversation and international exchange in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. After getting to know each other, we will head to the Nihonbashi area together.

During the walk, we will visit several iconic spots, including Nihonbashi Bridge, the impressive Bank of Japan Head Office Main Building, the famous department store Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, and the modern shopping complex COREDO Muromachi.

Let’s explore this charming district — often considered the starting point of Tokyo’s history — together with people from around the world. 🚶‍♂️🌉✨

First-time participants and solo attendees are very welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, so everyone can feel comfortable joining.

📍 ENGLISH ONLY CAFE (2:30–4:10 PM)

📍 Bank of Japan Head Office Main Building (4:40 PM)
Completed in 1896, this historic building features a solid stone structure inspired by Western Renaissance architecture. It is considered one of the masterpieces of modern Japanese architecture.

📍 Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store (6:00 PM)
Founded in 1673 as a kimono shop, it is one of Japan’s most famous department stores. The current building, completed in 1914, is known for its grand exterior and magnificent central hall. It is a symbol of Japan’s department store culture.

📍 Nihonbashi Bridge
Originally built in 1603, this bridge served as the starting point of the Five Major Highways during the Edo period. Even today, it marks the official origin point of Japan’s national road network.

📍 COREDO Muromachi
A popular shopping complex filled with restaurants, cafés, and shops. Its design reflects the culture and atmosphere of Edo, making it one of the most attractive modern areas in Nihonbashi.

Mitsukoshimae Station (Tokyo Metro) – 1 minute walk

- This event is not a guided tour.
- Last order for drinks is 30 minutes before departure.
- If you do not order a drink, a 500 JPY participation fee will be charged.
- Joining the event after departure is not possible.
- Registration is not available after arriving at the café on the day of the event.
- This meetup will conclude at the destination.
- If there are fewer than three participants on the day or in case of severe weather, the event will be canceled. However, you are still welcome to visit the café and enjoy our various meetups.
- If you wish to leave the group early, please inform the organizer.

日本橋は、江戸時代に五街道の起点として栄えた、東京の原点ともいえる歴史ある街です。

江戸から続く老舗の店や歴史的建築、そして現代的な商業施設が融合する日本橋には、東京の過去と現在の魅力が詰まっています。歴史ある街並みを感じながら、ゆったりと街歩きを楽しみましょう。

まずはカフェで集合し、英会話や国際交流を楽しみながらリラックスした雰囲気で交流します。参加者同士で打ち解けた後、みんなで日本橋エリアへ向かいます。

街歩きでは、歴史ある橋として知られる日本橋をはじめ、重厚な近代建築の日本銀行本店本館**、日本を代表する百貨店の日本橋三越本店、そして人気の商業エリアである**COREDO室町などを巡ります。

東京の歴史の始まりともいえる街、日本橋。

- 目的地にて現地解散となります。
