Hey racers! 👋 Welcome to our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournament! We’re excited to have you here for a fun-filled, action-packed 3 hours of karting, competition, and great vibes. Also, once I get a hold of enough Switch 2s, be prepared to play Mario Kart World Tournament!
Before we hit the gas, here are a few important details:

### 💴 Entry Fee & Check-In

• ¥1000 per player(¥500 yen if you can bring a switch with mario kart, more details below)
• Please pay Joseph when you check-in the venue.
• The fee helps cover venue costs, equipment, and prizes. Thanks for your support!

### 🎮 Equipment Reminder – We Need 3 Switches

To keep things smooth, we only need 3 Nintendo Switch consoles with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe installed(complete DLC recommended).
If you’re able to bring one, please let Joseph know at check-in:
✅ Make sure it’s fully charged and bring a charger if possible.
✅ Pro controllers are a big help too!
✅ If you can bring one, only pay ¥500.
✅ Only 3 consoles are needed to keep things moving, so don’t worry if you don’t have one to bring.
✅ I don't have other switches because this meetup is gearing up for a Mario Kart World(and other Switch 2 games) meetup!!!

### 🧭 3-Hour Event Schedule

Hour 1 – Warm-Up & Qualifiers

• Players will be split into heats of 3–4 players
• Each heat will race 8 races in a Grand Prix format
• Everyone gets multiple chances to race and accumulate points

Hour 2 – Knockouts & Semifinals

• Top players advance to the elimination rounds
• Non-finalists can join free play, Battle Mode, or side matches

Hour 3 – Championship & Free Play

• The Final 4 players compete in the Championship Grand Prix
• After the finals: casual racing, team battles, or fun challenges

### 🔁 Flexible Format Based on Turnout

• 16+ players: Group stage → Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Finals
• 8–15 players: Rotating heats → Semifinals → Finals
• <8 players: Point-based rounds → Top 4 Finals

### ⚙️ Race Rules

• 150cc, All items ON, No CPUs
• 8 races per set (Grand Prix format)
• Tracks: Random or group vote
• Controller sharing allowed — bring your own if you have one!

• 🥇 Tournament Champion – Winner of the final Grand Prix
• 🎁 Additional prizes may be awarded based on participation and fun side events

• ✅ Check in with Joseph and pay your ¥1000 entry fee
• ✅ If you’re bringing a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, please let Joseph know
• ✅ Make sure your controller is ready and let’s get racing — first races start at around 6:30pm.
