Men's Talk on Foreign Language with English and Japanese

Finding shared interests and experiences is a good way to enjoy conversation, also when speaking with a foreign language. The host, who have held some gatherings for men, will have an event for men on talking about learning foreign language, in English and Japanese.

Have studied cognitive science on language, and men's mind, the host now feels men have peculiar traits when speaking, even in native language. Then, what the good way for men to practicing speaking in foreign language? One of the effective solutions is Men's Talk.

Basic rule:
-Host only can speak moderate-level expressions of English. When needed, please choose to speak with simple expressions, like "foreigner talk", if you're a fluent English speaker
-Respect yourself and others
-Don't hurt others, and yourself
-Choose to do "Expressing", rather than "Explaining"

Host profile:
Kussu had studied cognitive science and psychology when he was in a faculty and master course at graduate school. After graduated, he challenged to research at his individual way, without belonging any universities or organization alike.
In 2024, he had a crisis as a man: After he had a terrible experience with a woman, he realized he has no good professions, no good intimate relationships, for a man in his late 30s.
Then he tried finding some meaning for his life. He knew male initiation was lost in industrialized society, and that can be a big problem for men today. After that, he found there is a male-initiation like opportunity in the US, and he participated that. It was November in 2024, that opportunity was a 5-day retreat for men called Men's Weekend, directed by MANTALKS. That changed his life.
After joining in Men's Weekend, he began to feel that he want to engage in mental and emotional growth of men. He started taking a training of psychotherapy in Tokyo. In November 2024, he had a men's circle in Shibuya, as one of the circles of "One Day, One Cause, 1000 Circles" project by UNcivilized, located in Colorado, USA.
He is now willing to have gathering for men in Tokyo and Yokohama, to invite men to support each other.

共通の興味と経験を見つけることは、会話を楽しむための良い方法です。外国語で話す時も、それは同じです。男性のための集まりを開催してきたホストが、英語と日本語での外国語学習について話す男性のためのイベントを開きます。

ホストは言語についての認知科学と男性の心について学ぶ中で、男性には会話する時に特有の特徴があると感じています。それは第一言語でも同様です。それでは、男性にとって外国語での会話を練習する良い方法はどのようなものでしょうか。メンズトークはその１つです。

―ホストは中級程度の英語しか話せません。英語が流暢な方は必要に応じて「フォリナートーク」のような簡単な表現もお選びください
―自分自身も相手も尊重をしてください
―相手も自分自身も傷つけないでください
―「エクスプレッシング（表現する）」を「エクスプレイニング（説明する）」よりも優先するようにしてください

ホストについて：
くっすは大学と大学院修士課程で認知科学と心理学を学びました。卒業後は、大学や研究組織に所属せずに自分なりの研究をする方法を見つけることを選びました。
2024年に男性としての危機となる出来事がありました。女性関係での辛い経験をした時に、30代後半になって、良い職業を得ておらず、親密な人間関係を持っていないという事実に直面しました。
その後、この人生を生きる意味は何かを見つけようとしました。現代社会では少年が大人の男性になるためのイニシエーションが失われていて、それが現代の男性にとって大きな問題であると知りました。それから、少年が大人の男性になるためのイニシエーションと同様の機会がアメリカにはあるとわかり、それに参加をしました。それは2024年11月に開催されたマントークス（MANTALKS）という団体によるメンズウィークエンド（Men's Weekend）という５日間のリトリートでした。そこで人生が変わりました。
メンズウィークエンドに参加をした後、男性における精神的な成熟に関わりたいという気持ちが持ち始めました。東京にて、心理療法のトレーニングを受け始めました。2024年の11月には、メンズサークルを渋谷で開催しました。これはアメリカのコロラド州にあるアンシヴィライズド（UNcivilized）による「ワン・デイ　ワン・コーズ　ワン・サウザンド・サークル」（One Day, One Cause, 1000 Circles）プロジェクトの１つとして開かれたものです。
現在、東京と横浜にて男性のための集まりを開いて、お互いを助け合う関係を持つことに意欲を持っています。
