"Let's Play Hachijo-Daiko" is an interactive Hachijo-Daiko event for everyone, regardless of age or gender.
Minato City has deep connections with island regions and is a hub for diverse cultural activities. In this international city, we aim to offer an opportunity to experience Hachijo-Daiko, a traditional Japanese performing art. Through this event, we hope to deepen connections among local residents and help foster new communities.
As a first step into Hachijo-Daiko, why not pick up the drumsticks and try playing the drum? Beginners are very welcome! Our instructors will provide careful guidance, so anyone can easily enjoy the fun of drumming.

### Instructor: Kenji Imagawa (Former Hachijo High School Teacher)

Mr. Imagawa is the advisor who, in just four years after establishing the Japanese drumming club at Tokyo Metropolitan Minami-Tama Secondary Education School, led them to win the Grand Prize and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award in the Folk Performing Arts Division at the 43rd National High School Comprehensive Cultural Festival. His passionate instruction, strong bonds with his students, and their growth through drumming were featured in a TV Tokyo documentary, which moved many viewers. Deeply fascinated by the charm of Hachijo-Daiko, he established a unique performance style that blends tradition and freedom with his students. Drawing on his rich experiences cultivated during his time living on Hachijo Island, Mr. Imagawa will convey the profound appeal of Hachijo-Daiko.

「たたいてみよう八丈太鼓」は、老若男女問わず、どなたでもご参加いただける体験と交流の八丈太鼓イベントです。
港区は島嶼地域と深いつながりを持ち、多彩な文化活動が展開されています。この国際色豊かな港区において、日本の伝統芸能である八丈太鼓に触れる機会を提供し、イベントを通して地域住民の皆様の交流を深め、新たなコミュニティ形成の一助となることを目指しています。
八丈太鼓の第一歩として、まずはバチを持って太鼓に触れてみませんか？ 初心者の方も大歓迎です！講師が丁寧に指導しますので、どなたでも気軽に太鼓を叩く楽しさを味わえます。
講師：今川 健司 先生 (元八丈高校教諭）
東京都立南多摩中等教育学校の和太鼓部を創設後わずか4年で、第43回全国高等学校総合文化祭 郷土芸能部門において最優秀賞・文部科学大臣賞受賞へと導いた顧問です。 その情熱的な指導、生徒たちとの熱い絆、そして太鼓を通して成長していく姿はテレビ東京のドキュメンタリー番組でも取り上げられ、大きな感動を呼びました。 八丈太鼓の魅力に深く魅せられた先生は、生徒たちとともに伝統と自由を融合させた独自の演奏スタイルを確立。八丈島での生活で培われた豊かな経験を活かし、八丈太鼓の奥深い魅力をお伝えします。
