**Tibor Karaszi - TempDB, what, why and how**
In this session, we'll explore TempDB management from several different perspectives. Topics include:
\- Planning and sizing TempDB
\- Best practices
\- What uses TempDB and why
\- Managing TempDB space
What to do when TempDB is running out of space
\- Recovering when TempDB has already become full
\- Understanding the difference between the current file size and the startup size of TempDB files
==================

---

Once upon a time, Tibor Karaszi founded SQL Server User Group Sweden. After several years away from presenting, Tibor is back, and we're delighted that he has chosen to visit Stockholm SQL.

B3 will be providing hearty sandwiches and suitable refreshments to go with them. Therefore, it would be appreciated if you:
\- Attend if you have registered for the meeting\.
\- Cancel your registration if you are unable to come\.
\- Avoid having a huge dinner right before the meeting\. :\)

As usual, we'll start with sandwiches and networking. Once it feels like we've finished catching up, or at least finished chewing, we'll settle down and hear what Tibor has to say about TempDB. After the presentation, you're very welcome to stay a while longer and continue networking.

Session Abstract

### Automating Healthcare Compliance Reporting with SQL, Python, and Power BI

Healthcare organizations often manage large volumes of operational and compliance data that require continuous monitoring and reporting. Manual reporting processes can be time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to scale as data volumes grow.
In this session, I will demonstrate how SQL, Python, and Power BI can be combined to automate healthcare compliance reporting workflows. Using real-world reporting patterns from Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) programs, attendees will learn how to process large datasets, implement business rules, automate data validation, and build interactive dashboards for operational monitoring.

\*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.

**Intro to Model Context Protocol (MCP)**
AI assistants are getting better at answering questions, but on their own they can't access your files, query your databases, or interact with your applications. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a new open standard backed by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft that provides a common way for AI assistants to connect to external tools and data. In this beginner-friendly session, you'll learn what MCP is, why it matters, and how it enables AI assistants to move beyond chat and take action in the real world. We'll explore the core concepts—tools, resources, and prompts—then bring it together with a live demo of an AI assistant using MCP servers to do things it couldn't do on its own.

Online event

Friends
Here's our next virtual event on Oct 28.
This is a preview of our full day hands-on workshop to be held in Microsoft office in Houston on Dec 4. Registration for which is open here:
[https://www.eventbrite.com/e/building-reliable-ai-apps-and-agents-with-microsoft-sql-tickets-1997803305466?aff=oddtdtcreator](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/building-reliable-ai-apps-and-agents-with-microsoft-sql-tickets-1997803305466?aff=oddtdtcreator)

***"Learn how to build production-ready AI applications and agents powered by Azure SQL."***

In this hands-on workshop, you'll prepare Azure SQL Database as a resilient Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) data source, implement hybrid search that combines vector and relational retrieval techniques, and integrate your retrieval layer with applications and AI agents.

Through guided labs and real-world scenarios, you'll explore core patterns for semantic search, vector search, hybrid retrieval, embeddings, and agent-driven application design using Azure SQL Database as the implementation platform. You'll also learn how these same architectural patterns align with the broader Microsoft SQL portfolio, including the AI capabilities introduced in SQL Server 2025 such as vector search, embeddings, hybrid search, and agentic application development.

Leave with practical patterns, hands-on experience, and an understanding of how to build reliable, secure, and scalable AI solutions using your existing data, whether your future deployments run in Azure SQL Database, SQL Server 2025, or hybrid environments.
