1️⃣ **Measuring what matters and setting the right expectations**, [Alex Ewerlöf](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexewerlof/)
Service Levels (SLI/SLO) are even more relevant in the age of AI-generated blackboxes. In this talk, Alex talks about:

1. A foolproof methodology to get to meaningful metrics that tie to business objectives and are worth being on-call for
2. Exploring why the AI era makes Service Levels more relevant than ever, but there's a catch.

[Alex](https://www.alexewerlof.com/) is an [author](https://blog.alexewerlof.com/p/rem) and open source developer with 27 years experience and MSc in Systems Engineering from KTH. He has the last 8 years as SRE (senior and staff) helping large and small organizations measure what matters and set reasonable expectations while avoiding [broken ownership](https://blog.alexewerlof.com/p/broken-ownership). He has also spent the last few years building an AI powered (BYOK) [app](https://srvlvl.com/) that replaces his role and if there's time he may show a demo.

2️⃣ **Not Just Code: My First OpenTelemetry: Contribution & Hands-On to Open Source**, [Imma Valls](https://www.linkedin.com/in/imma-valls)
Starting in open source can feel intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. In this session, I will share my journey into OpenTelemetry and the CNCF ecosystem, explore both code and non-code contribution paths, and demonstrate how to create and submit a pull request in a real open source project.
This session will highlight concrete next steps: **LFX Mentorship, Outreachy, and Google Summer of Code**, programs that offer mentorship and visibility to help you make that first contribution with support. Whether you're a student or working professional, you'll leave with a clear first step to take today.

Geraldo Gabriel, Solutions Engineer at Grafana Labs
Topic Title: Root cause in the terminal: debugging production with gcx and a coding agent.
Abstract:
"Your alert fires at 2am. You open Grafana in one tab, Slack in another, your editor in a third, and spend the next hour reconstructing what happened before you write a single line of the fix.
gcx is Grafana's official CLI, and it puts Grafana Cloud where you already work: the terminal, and agentic coding environments like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot. In this session I walk through a full root cause investigation without switching windows. We list what's firing, pull the alert rule, hand the question to Grafana Assistant for causal analysis, read back the investigation report and timeline, then follow up with "what changed in the last deploy?" while the context is still loaded.
You'll learn where deterministic gcx commands are the right tool for exact retrieval and verification, and where Assistant earns its keep on comparative and causal questions a coding agent can't answer cheaply. Live demo throughout, on a real alert."
