AD&D (2e) / Cloudslasher / Jiyugaoka RPG Day X
詳細
Dragons, hooked and hung like clouds,
in that lowest plane of heaven, drift…
You reach down and pull the leather strap tight against your thigh. The harness pinches like a tourniquet, but you know the tension is life-saving and the discomfort is only temporary. Shortly, you will perform a roll, your bodyweight pulling you away from the saddle and stretching the harness out into a more comfortable hold on your legs.
You inhale the thin, cold air and train your eyes north towards First Lance Ashot. He hangs there, in nearly motionless gyre, at the head of your thunder formation. Your gaze falls on the blue signal flag he holds at his side, then slides across to the other four riders, their mounts floating effortlessly on the thermals all around you.
You blink as the sun crests the horizon, igniting the edge of the world. Four fathoms ahead and three below you, you can now see the hulking form of the airship coming into view...
...Cloudslasher.
It looks almost peaceful, a gentle grace, pinned amongst the wispy clouds… that shining, beautiful mass of wood, and brass, and great billowing sails.
But you know the evil that lazes deep in its belly. You know it all too well. You can almost smell its sour reek of greed and gunpowder.
And then, Ashot’s blue flag flashes up violently, colour-shifting to a regal purple in the red, rising light of morning.
You adjust your mark—two points north-northeast—to align with the thunder, and execute your roll. Then stooping sharply into your attack, you let gravity slice you downwards through the orange-pink sky.
The thunder is falling on Cloudslasher. The great ship will burn…
