April 23rd is both the 452nd anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and the 400th of his death. WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO COMMEMORATE this glovemaker's son by gorging ourselves on his words.
Because the details need to be worked out (for example we might begin reading/discussing a play in a prior meet-up) right now there is only a waitlist, and all info given will need to be confirmed later.
But as always....look forward to seeing you ------------
DETAILS:
In this meet-up we will begin our discussion of Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's romantic comedy of 1595 --- the same year that Romeo and Juliet was first performed. (Love must have been on his mind.)
Preparation: Please read approximately the first half of the play prior to meeting, and bring the text with you.
Discussion will refer to Shakespeare's original text. If you would like greater familiarity with Shakespeare's English, PLEASE CONSIDER ATTENDING THE MEET-UP ON MARCH 19TH https://www.meetup.com/Seriously-Playful-Brainiacs-Wanted-yes-that-means-you/events/229485464/ . In that meet-up we will begin reading Midsummer Night's Dream together, learning a lot about Shakespeare's very, um, Shakespearean language. I'm sure this will be a delight, so all are welcome even if you've read every word in Shax's cannon already.
[If your native language is not English, you can read a translation first; but then please read the original.]
