【This is "in-person"event along Kamo-river!】
It's time to have a picnic!
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 13:30 on Sunday, May 17,2026.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

SCHEDULE:
13:30 - Quick introductions
13:45 - Timer starts: write for about 1 and half hour
15:15 - 16:00 The End: chat, take off, or keep writing and have lunch/snacks.
Optional: The host will have a book library picnic between 11:00ish-16:00ish. You can join anytime.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

Find the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign!
The nearest train station is Jingu-Marutamachi(神宮丸太町駅) /Exit3 of the Keihan line(京阪電車）.
Go to Exit 3 and cross the street to the Sough and Marutamachi Bridge to the west side of Kamo-river(鴨川）.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the overhead sounds around us or the occasional conversation by other people.

Other Important Details:
It's outside.
-NEED TO COME WITH THEIR LAPTOPS PRE-CHARGED.
-There's no internet connection, Bring your wifi if you need.
-Bring things that make you comfortable like hats, cushions, picnic chairs, favorite snacks for picnic etc.

The host brings
-a picnic blanket for 4 to 6 people
-a small picnic table
-some tea tools

In case of a bad weather condition, we will move to a cafe near Jingu-Marutamachi or cancel the event. The host will let the attendees know via Meetup message in the morning.

日時：5月17日(日）13時30分〜15時30分
Optional: ホストは11時頃から16時頃までの間でピクニックをしていますので、好きな時間からお気軽にお立ち寄りください。
場所：鴨川沿い（丸太町橋と二条大橋の間：西、京都御苑側の河川敷）で、「Shut up & Write」サインをもったホストを探してください。

最寄り駅の京阪電車「神宮丸太町駅」３番出口から出た場合、横断歩道と丸太町橋を渡って川の西側へ降りてください。
周囲の音が気になる場合は耳栓、天候に合わせての服装、心地よく過ごすためのグッズをご自由にお持ちください。電源はないのでPCはよく充電したものを、Wi-Fiはないので必要であればご自身でご準備ください。
ホストは、６人まで座れるレジャーシートと小さなピクニックテーブルとお茶を用意します。
雨や悪天候の場合は中止または近くのカフェへ移動します。変更・中止連絡はmeet upのメッセージで参加者へ朝のうちにお知らせします。

Please enter the narrow alley next to "京都上々もん屋"（Kimono clothing store）/ in front of 京都新町病院"(Kyoto Shinmachi Hospital) along the Shinmachi-street.The entrance of Mud & Books is at the end of a narrow alley.

Doro-Shobo(Mud &Books) is specialized with books of "Tanka," which is a Japanese traditional poem with 31 syllables.

7mins walk from Hankyo Karasuma station/Kyoto city subway Shijo station or Karasuma-oike station.

Up to Shinmachi street from Shijo-dori.It's near Mitsui Garden Hotel Shinmachi Bettei.Please enter the narrow alley next to "京都上々もん屋"（Kimono clothing store）/ in front of ”京都新町病院”（Kyoto Shimachi Hospital）.

There is the library space in the bookstore and find this event's organizer Saeko/Rie/Chiyo.

-Please thank the library by ordering iced tea or iced coffee.

It costs just 300 yen, Cash only. It is better to prepare the exact amount.

What Should I Bring?
