Just Words
詳細
It’s not enough to be inclusive, or even “ethical” in our design and communication. It’s time to talk about justice. But how do we go beyond what’s asked of us, especially when, as writers, so many teams and organizations want us to stay in what they perceive as our box, and “just do the words”? As designers and writers, we make everyday things, which means we need to think deeply about what narratives, priorities, and goals those things promote. Where can we make genuine impact, and where is our power limited or blocked?
At our next (online!) event, we’re talking about what we can (and can’t) do with language and as content professionals, to create access, improve transparency, and support justice movements, inside and outside of products and services.
Because nothing, especially injustice is “just words,” let’s talk about how to make our words more just.
And in case it’s not already clear, the Stockholm UXW&CD meetup fully supports Black Lives Matter :)
