Dear TACO members 🐙🐙,
This is our first English speaking session in a while...

This time, we'll discuss the state and future prospects of agility and Scrum in Japan.

What we mean by agility here is the competitive advantage that results from a superior ability to make decisions, to learn, to adapt to changes, and to capture new opportunities in the market.

It is not easy to summarize once and for all how agile Japanese organizations are. There is a lot of very different corporate cultures and approaches out there. Japan is undeniably innovative and opportunistic in some ways (cf. robotics, electronics, manufacturing, gaming, space, etc.). But it is also rigid and slow in others: the bureaucracy, the slow technology adoption at times, the prevalence of a project mindset by which success is measured against initial scope, budget and schedule, etc.

In this event, we'll leverage the collective intelligence of the participants in order to explore the state and future prospects of agility in Japan from different angles.

This event will be facilitated by Professional Scrum Trainer™ Gregory Fontaine.

Agenda (19:00 - 20:30):

  • Interactive Talk: The State of Agile Development and Scrum in Japan: data and thoughts
  • Group discussions:
    1. what problems and opportunities are we seeing in Japan where agility would help?
    2. what are some things we could do tomorrow, without any approvals and limited investment, that would have a positive impact?
  • Sharing and Closing
