Explanation of Buddhism
Buddhism is not about worshiping a god or following strict rules. It is a path to understand yourself and the true nature of life.
One of the most important teachings is this:
You already have Buddha inside you.
You are not separate from wisdom, peace, or compassion. You just forget sometimes.
What Is a Buddha?
The word Buddha means "awakened one." A Buddha is someone who has fully awakened to the truth—who sees things clearly, just as they are, without confusion or attachment.
You don’t have to become someone else.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You just need to wake up to the reality of life, and to your own heart.
How Do We “Wake Up”?
In Buddhism, we wake up by:
Seeing that everything changes
Letting go of ego and selfish desire
Practicing kindness, awareness, and wisdom
Looking deeply into the present moment
Zazen (Zen meditation) is a way to sit still, turn inward, and realize that what you are looking for is already within you.
If You Truly Realize All Things, You Become a Buddha
This means that when you see the world clearly—not through your opinions, fears, or desires, but just as it is—you understand the deep connection between all things. That understanding brings peace, compassion, and freedom.
In Zen, we say:
“Mountains are mountains, rivers are rivers.”
When you truly realize the world, you return to simple things—but now, you see their deep truth.
Buddhism is not a belief. It is an experience.
Sitting in Zazen is one way to taste that experience for yourself.
As Zen Master Dōgen said:
"To study the self is to forget the self. To forget the self is to be awakened by all things."
You are welcome to explore this path, even just for a moment—by sitting, breathing, and being fully present.
Thank you for joining us.
We hope this moment of stillness brings peace to your heart.
