"Artificial Intelligence in the Search for Life Beyond Our Solar System"

Artificial intelligence is transforming modern life - and astronomy is no exception. This month, Dr. Manuel Perger (ICE-CSIC) will explore how these cutting-edge technologies are revolutionizing the discovery and characterization of planets orbiting distant stars, or exoplanets. Ultimately, they may hold the key to finding life outside our Solar System.

Speaker info:
Manuel was born in southern Germany and studied physics at the University of Cologne from 2002 to 2007, inspired by a childhood fascination with the universe sparked by a German TV show from the 80s. For his PhD, he researched young low-mass stars in the Canary Islands in Spain. In 2012, he joined the exoplanet research group led by Ignasi Ribas in Barcelona. Since then, he has focused on the detection and characterization of exoplanets, with increasing emphasis on understanding their host stars and developing tools, including machine learning applications.
