This group is for badminton enthusiasts who are passionate about exploring the connections between metabolism, energy, and exercise. We are welcome beginner plus, intermediate and advance level players looking to improve your skill or a seasoned player seeking to optimize your performance on the court, this group is for you! While a philosopher might ask the question, “Why are we here?”, geologists want to know, “How did we get here?”. In this meetup we will travel back in time through the Earth’s history; learning how our planet operates today, what it may have been like in the past, and the tools geologists use to figure these things out. Join us for this quick trip through geologic time, from the Anthropocene to the Hadean! For this meetup, we have an expert in earth sciences who will share her expertise with us and facilitate the gathering. Silvia Castilla is a PhD student in the Earth Sciences department at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on volcanology and isotope geochemistry to understand the processes that occur before volcanic eruptions. We’ll begin with a short grounding moment, followed by a brief reading from spiritual or philosophical traditions, and an open reflection circle where participants can share (or simply listen). Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection. All backgrounds are welcome.
