Experience "Setsubun": Japan’s Annual Bean-Throwing Festival!👹
詳細
## Once a Year! Experience "Setsubun," Japan’s Traditional Bean-Throwing Festival.
Join me for a visit to Senso-ji Temple to experience Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event!
Senso-ji is famously known as the first place to open the bean-throwing ritual to the public. I’ll be your guide for the day—let’s enjoy this unique cultural tradition together!
### What is Setsubun & Mamemaki?
Setsubun is a festival celebrated on February 3rd to mark the change of seasons. We perform Mamemaki (throwing roasted soy beans) to drive away bad luck and welcome good fortune for the year. At Senso-ji, we follow a unique tradition where we don't shout "Demons out"—we only call for "Good fortune in!"
### Schedule
- 01:30 PM: Meet at Kaminarimon Gate
- 02:00 PM: Watch the traditional Mamemaki at Senso-ji
- 02:30 PM: Watch the "Dance of the Seven Lucky Gods"
- 03:00 PM: Explore the "Daruma Market" for unique souvenirs
- 03:30 PM: Finish at Asakusa Culture Tourist Center (Optional: Stay until 4:00 PM if you want to see the celebrity bean-throwing event!)
### Good to Know
- Since this is a weekday, it will be a small, friendly group.
- The vibe is casual and relaxed. Solo travelers are very welcome!
- Let’s chat about Japanese sightseeing and culture as we walk.
### Optional Morning Trip: The Fire Ritual
In the morning, a powerful "Daruma Burning Ritual" takes place at Nishiarai Daishi Temple. If you are interested in seeing thousands of lucky charms being purified by fire:
- Meet at Daishimae Station at 11:00 AM.
- We will watch the ritual together before heading to Asakusa.
