詳細

Hi fellow hikers!

If you like your hikes short and tough, this one is for you! We continue our exploration of the Kyoto Loop Trail, this time going up and down Mt Daimonji.

Meeting point: The Keage Tunnel, also known as Nejirimampo, right next to Keage station (Tozai line).
Meeting time: 9:00am, starting the hike at 9:15 no matter what excuse or bribe you may offer.

Finish point: Kinrin Shako-mae bus station.
Finish time: about 12pm.

Length/elevation: 7km, up and down 400m.

What to expect
We start at the Keage incline, local historical spot and once the longest incline railway in the world. We then dive into the forests of Mt. Daimonji, between soft soil trail and rocky slopes. After a steady climb we reach the summit with one of the best views of Kyoto. We catch our breath, enjoy pictures and snacks, and find our way down to civilization through cedar woods.

After: A few stops from our finish bus station is a vegan ramen I've been meaning to try, people interested in tagging along are more than welcome to stay for lunch! There's also a shop offering "raw chocolate tart" nearby in case you're open to further culinary exploration :)

Points of difficulty
The hike is short but can be demanding, especially the first few slopes.

Logistics
Well-worn shoes, water and snacks and appropriate clothes for the day.

Usual disclaimer
By joining this hike, you acknowledge that the organizer assumes no liability for physical injury, financial ruin, enlightenment, karmic rebalancing, or any other unforeseen catastrophe.
