# What is PyData.Okinawa? (PyData.Okinawaとは)

PyData.Okinawa is a community for you if you are interested in python, data analytics, and machine learning. From novice programmers to experts, if you are interested in these fields, you are more than welcome to join us. Also, we use English as a "recommended language" after 18th meetup, so English speakers living here or visiting Okinawa from other countries can join our meetup. We are all looking forward to seeing you at the next meetup.

PyData.Okinawa は Python + Data に興味のある方が交流できる沖縄を拠点にしたコミュニティです。データから新しい価値を生み出したいという想いがあれば、どのようなバックグラウンドを持った方でも自由に参加できるオープンなコミュニティです。沖縄で定期的に開催される勉強会ではPythonをメインな言語として使いますが、機械学習やデータアナリティクスに興味を持つ方であればどのような言語を使うプログラマの方でも参加可能です。またハードルは高いかもしれませんが、これからPythonプログラミングを覚えたい初心者の方も大歓迎です。18回以降は英語を推奨言語とすることにより、英語がネイティブの方も参加できるようにする一方、日本人エンジニアの方の英語力の向上も計っています。沖縄県外のコミュニティとも積極的に交流しながら、次の世代をインスパイアするような新しい価値を生み出していくことがPyData.Okinawaの成功の姿です。

# Preparation (事前準備)

PyData.Okinawa usually have a hands-on coding session. So, if possible, please bring your own laptop computer with python programming environment installed. We recommend Anaconda with python 2.7, which comes with most of the packages we use during the coding session. You can download Anaconda freely from the following page ( https://www.continuum.io/downloads ). Also, we usually use datasets available on kaggle, so please create your own kaggle account before the meetup ( https://www.kaggle.com ).

PyData.OkinawaではPythonを使ったプログラミングを行いますので、可能であればJupyter (IPython Notebook)やMatplotlib等が使えるPython2.7系の環境が整ったノートパソコンをご用意ください。 Python2.7系の環境構築は無料のAnacondaで行うことを推奨します。これでコーディングセッションで使う基本的なパッケージがインストールされます。 また、kaggleというサイトで提供されているデータを用いることが多いので、事前にkaggleの無料ユーザーアカウントをご用意下さい。

For interactive visualization, we use ipywidgets and plotly. So please install both of these packages before you attend the meetup. Here is the step-by-step installation guilde for ipywidgets (https://github.com/ipython/ipywidgets/blob/master/docs/source/user_install.md) and Plotly (https://plot.ly/python/getting-started/#installation). Please note that you don't have to register to Plotly to use plotly package in our meetup.

インタラクティブな可視化用のPythonライブラリとして、ipywidgetsとPlotlyを用いますので、インストールガイド（ipywidgets (https://github.com/ipython/ipywidgets/blob/master/docs/source/user_install.md), Plotly (https://plot.ly/python/getting-started/#installation)）を参考に、事前のインストールをお願いします。また、今回のミートアップのハンズオンの内容を行うだけであれば、Plotlyに登録する必要はありません。

We have a LT (lightening talk) session during the meetup. So feel free to prepare your own LT if you have something which you would like to share with everybody (English is recommeded, but not enforced).

LTセッションがありますので、みんなとシェアしたいネタがある場合は、自由にご参加下さい（英語推奨ですが、難しい方は日本語でも大丈夫です）。

# Cancellation policy (キャンセルポリシー)

We have limited seats for the meetup. So please read the following cancellation policy.

• If you cannot come to the meetup, we require you to notify us prior to the meetup. If you skip our meetup without any notification, we might decline your participation in the future meetups.

• If you cancel the participation at the day of meetup without any clear reason, we might decline your participation in the future meetups.

参加枠の数が限られています。参加可能な方に参加枠を事前に確保するためにも、以下のキャンセルポリシーをご一読の上で申し込みお願い致します。

• 参加枠を確保しているにも関わらず連絡なく不参加の方は、次回以降の参加をお断りさせて頂くことがあります。

• 止むを得ない理由なく当日キャンセルをされた方は、次回以降の参加をお断りさせて頂くことがあります。
