Yushima Tenjin has been loved by the people as a famous plum blossom viewing spot since the Edo period.

The Yushima Tenjin Plum Blossom Festival is a traditional early-spring event held every year at Yushima Tenjin Shrine, which enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. Around 300 plum trees bloom beautifully throughout the shrine grounds, featuring both white and red plum blossoms. During the festival, visitors can also enjoy traditional performances and local product stalls, making the area lively with many worshippers.

First, we will enjoy English conversation and international Meetups at a café in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other.

After that, we will head to Yushima Tenjin together.

In addition to enjoying the plum blossoms, you can watch traditional performances and food stalls, and also pray for academic success.

We host numerous international exchange events daily. It's the perfect environment for making new friends, so please join us sometime.

🏮 Plum Festival Overview

🌸 Plum Garden
Approximately 300 plum trees are planted within the shrine grounds and around Otoko-zaka (Men's Slope) and Onna-zaka (Women's Slope). White and red plum blossoms reach their peak bloom in succession. A major attraction is the opportunity to stroll amidst the tranquil atmosphere enveloped by the fragrance of plum blossoms, right in the heart of the city.

🌸 Dedicated Performances
Performances dedicated to the festival are held mainly on weekends during the festival period. The program focuses on allowing visitors to experience Japanese traditional culture up close, featuring Japanese dance, shamisen, rakugo, and shigin (poetry recitation).

🌸 Local Products Fair & Stalls
For a limited time, the shrine grounds host a local products fair and stalls where you can enjoy Japanese sweets, light snacks, and lucky charms. One of the charms is being able to stroll while eating and shop for souvenirs amidst the lively, festive atmosphere.

🏮 Important Notice
- This is not a guided tour, so no guide will be provided.
- From 12:00 to 1:20 PM, you can participate in meetups at the café.
- Last call for drinks is 30 minutes before departure.
- If you do not order a drink, a participation fee of ¥500 will be charged.
- Please arrive at the cafe by 1:00 PM at the latest.
- Joining midway after departure is not permitted.
- You cannot register for this event upon arrival at the cafe on the day.
- After departure, we will not return to the cafe; the event will conclude at the destination.
- If severe weather or other conditions make departure difficult, you may remain at the cafe and enjoy the social gathering until its conclusion.
- Canceled if fewer than three participants.
- Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking.
- You may not bring bicycles to the event.
- If you wish to leave the group early, please inform the organizer. We will direct you to the nearest station.

* Upon arrival, please pay 500 JPY upfront. After completing the evening walk and returning to the café, please pay the difference for your selected drink
* Please note that if you leave without returning to the café, no refund will be issued

* A one-time “Member Passport” issuance fee of 100 JPY applies

湯島天神は、江戸時代より「梅の名所」として多くの庶民に親しまれてきました。

湯島天神梅まつりは、学問の神様・菅原道真公を祀る湯島天神で毎年開催される、春の訪れを告げる風物詩です。境内には約300本の白梅・紅梅が咲き誇り、美しい景色を楽しむことができます。期間中は奉納演芸や物産展なども行われ、多くの参拝客で賑わいます。

まずはカフェにて、英会話や国際交流を楽しみながら、和やかな雰囲気の中で親睦を深めましょう。

その後、みんなで湯島天神へ向かいます。

梅の観賞に加え、奉納演芸や露店を楽しみながら、学業成就のご参拝もしていただけます。

🏮梅まつり概要

🌸 梅園
境内および男坂・女坂周辺には、約300本の梅の木が植えられており、白梅・紅梅が順に見頃を迎えます。都心にありながら、梅の香りに包まれた落ち着いた雰囲気の中で散策を楽しめるのが大きな魅力です。

🌸 奉納演芸
祭り期間中の週末を中心に、奉納演芸が行われます。内容は日本舞踊、三味線、落語、詩吟など、日本の伝統文化を間近で体験できるプログラムが中心です。

🌸 物産展・露店
境内には期間限定で物産展や露店が並び、和菓子や軽食、縁起物などを楽しむことができます。お祭りらしい賑わいを感じながら、食べ歩きやお土産選びができるのも魅力のひとつです。

- こちらはガイドツアーではないため、ガイドのご案内はございません。
- 午後12時10分から1時20分までは、カフェでの交流会にご参加いただけます。
- ドリンクのラストオーダーは、出発の30分前となります。
- ドリンクのご注文がない場合は、参加費として500円を頂戴いたします。
- 遅くとも午後1時までにお越しください。
- 出発後の途中参加はできません。
- 当日、カフェ到着後に本イベントへお申し込みいただくことはできません。
- 出発後はカフェには戻らず、現地解散となります。
- 荒天等により実施が難しい場合は、カフェにて各交流会を最後までお楽しみいただけます。
