Welcome to the Translation Club face to face event!
We are excited to meet you in the real world for one monthly event.
Like the main online event, we will be translating Japanese texts into English.
This is open to anyone interested in learning either language and understanding more about these cultures.
Join us at the co-working space Y-Valley from 14h00.
When you reach out the building, please call the 080-2130-8802 so I can pick you up.
If you have any questions before the event you can reach out to Patrick on patrick@lifecrack.asia.

• What we'll do
Each session is an opportunity to do group translation, enjoy general social time and reflect on the translation process, i.e. specific vocabulary, sentences which were difficult/insightful, etc. We form groups of 3 to 5 people with some native speakers of English, and some native speakers of Japanese.
There is a text for us to translate together, we need to use both of the group languages (e.g Japanese and English) to complete the translation. The texts are recent articles about contemporary cultural or social issues.
This is one of the few language exchange events in Tokyo that cater to Intermediate to Advanced learners of Japanese and native speakers. We have a core of dedicated language learners who come every week and tackle a different text on a different topic.
The workshops are great for English and Japanese learners and speakers who want to develop their knowledge of language and meet other people who speak their language.
• Standard agenda for a session:
14:00-14:15: Introduction
14:15-15:15: Group Translation
15:15-15:30: Discussion time, learning sharing.
• Important to know
- This event is entirely free... And in order to keep it this way, we need to be able to calibrate the room for the amount of participants, so please, if you cannot come remove your RSVP as soon as you know.
- If you arrive later than 14:15, please send us a message! (We won't allow anyone past 14:15 for the sake of the group dynamics)
