Welcome to the Koenji Chess Club!
No registration required, all levels welcome.
Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Meeting at The Den in Koenji from 6 PM to 10 PM, feel free to pop in and out anytime.
No need to bring anything. There are 10+ tournament-style vinyl boards with triple-weighted pieces for up to 20+ people.
Sometimes it can get crowded, but there are clocks for timed games, so people rotate. Typically, the games are 5, 10, or 15 minutes with or without increments. Decide with the person you play before the start of the game.
The Den is a smash burger and craft beer bar located on the other side of the covered 'shotengai' shopping street 1 minute away from Koenji station, 2 stops from Shinjuku.
Walk up to the stairs to the 2nd floor, check in and order a drink at the bar, then come up to the 3rd floor for unlimited chess, join any table!
500 yen entry + 1 drink order. Discounted drinks for chess players starting at 500 yen.
