A New Year Tradition! The 'Polar Bear Plunge'.

A jump in Lake Biwa on the first of January. A refreshing way to start the New Year.

Meeting point is Kita Komatsu station on the Kosei line.
Meeting time is 12.00 in the afternoon.

Walking to the Lake
We walk to Lake Biwa together. There are public toilets there. Could be used for changing into swim wear too.

Jump in the Lake
After a count-down we'll go into the water for a few seconds? Maybe a minute? Then back out to warm up.

Warming up at KHG Base Camp
We will warm up at Base Camp. There will be hot coffee and warm tea. This is included in the participation fee.

What to bring?
Swim wear and a towel. Warm clothes. It's recommended to bring slippers or water shoes because the lake can be a bit rocky.

No Convenience store!
Kita Komatsu has no supermarket or convenience store. Make sure that get your lunch before getting on the train. Even vending machines are scarce.

Misogi
Japan has its fair share of cold water and purification culture to dive into. I'm totally into this kind of things and it's great to mix them all together.

Can I join without getting into the water?
Yes, you can! You can be a cheerleader and support the ones crazy enough to go. Please join for the New Year Celebration.
