# Welcome to the Quincy Board Game Group!
The Quincy Board Game Group is a local community for people who enjoy board games, card games, roleplaying games, and other tabletop games in a friendly, low-pressure setting.
We host regular events in and around Quincy, including general board game meetups, themed events, and events focused on specific games such as Magic: The Gathering or Dungeons & Dragons.
Our goal is simple: help people meet other local players, learn new games, and build a reliable tabletop gaming community in Quincy.
This group is a good fit if you want to meet people, try new games, or find more players for games you already enjoy. All experience levels are welcome, whether you are brand new to board games or have shelves full of them.
## What to Expect
Events vary by venue and format. Some are open gaming events where people choose games at the table. Others are built around a specific game, system, or theme.
Most events are casual and beginner-friendly. You do not need to own games or know much about board games to join. Experienced players are welcome to bring and teach games they enjoy.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend and update your RSVP if plans change. This helps organizers plan space, tables, and game selection.
You are welcome to bring games unless an event description says otherwise. If you bring a game, be prepared to give a quick overview or teach it.
## Event Suggestions
Members are welcome to suggest games, venues, event formats, or special events. Send suggestions to the organizer through Meetup or bring them up at an event.
## Dues
We use member dues to help keep the group active and sustainable. Dues help cover the costs of running the group, including Meetup organizer fees, payment processing fees, event planning, group administration, and supplies when needed.
Joining the group includes a 30-day trial period. Since we typically host several recurring monthly events, this gives new members a chance to attend and decide whether the group is a good fit.
At the end of the trial period, if you have not added payment information through Meetup, Meetup automatically removes you from the group. You can rejoin at any time by adding payment information and rejoining on the group page.
You can also pay dues in cash. If you do, the organizer can apply the payment to your account manually.
You are also welcome to pause your participation and come back later by leaving and rejoining the group.
## Code of Conduct
The Quincy Board Game Group is intended to be welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone. Here are some general guidelines:
- Be respectful – Harassment, discrimination, bullying, theft, or damaging games or venue property is not tolerated.
- Show good sportsmanship – It is fine to be competitive, but be gracious in both victory and defeat. Do not cheat, and help make the game fun for everyone.
If a problem comes up, please contact the organizer at the event or privately through Meetup so it can be addressed appropriately.

Magic the Gathering: Commander

New players are welcome! We usually have some extra commander decks to borrow. (If you need to borrow a deck, just leave a comment on the page or message the host so we have enough.)
If you are brand new to Magic, we recommend playing on MTG Arena because there is a tutorial that will teach you the basics.
We'll be meeting in the 1st Floor Mini-Conference Room of the Thomas Crane Public Library. Covered drinks are allowed, but food is only allowed in the atrium on the ground floor.
GETTING THERE
The library is located in Quincy Center about a 4 minute walk from the T station. There are several options for parking:- Quincy Public Schools Admin, 34 Coddington St, generally open and free on weekends (2 minute walk)
- Library parking lot (2 hour time limit)
- Street parking along Hancock St, Coddington St, Maple St, or Chestnut St (1 hour time limit)
- Kilroy Square Garage, $1/hour (6 minute walk)
