Nerd Nite Tokyo #78: What to Do With What Remains
詳細
While the Tokyo Business Meetup is on hiatus, we would like to highlight an event that we believe many of our members would enjoy.
Nerd Nite Tokyo is a social event on Friday nights each month, presenting talks on a wide variety of topics in science, literature, history, the arts, engineering, technology, the environment, and current events. Think of it as a more casual form of TED.
Here's a brief description of this month's event from the organizers:
Two of our speakers are new, but as is the theme of our tenth anniversary, we welcome back a speaker from the before times!
On the subject of before times, our first speaker Shania James takes us way back on the geological time scale, back to The Big Bonk that wiped out the (non-avian) dinosaurs, and how we know it from the thin layer of clay that was left.
Next, Upasana Jhariya shows us what we can do about the toxic waste that we leave behind; how tiny ferro-cious superheroes use iron to remove heavy metals from water and help restore ecosystems.
Finally, Michael Gakuran will show us how to rethink abandoned spaces and places, and find how the “in-between” contextualizes what lies on either side… and beyond.
Doors open at 7 PM. Come early and get your drinks and socializing in before the show proper starts at 7:45 PM!
