Hi everyone!
I’m the founder of the Sapporo Zen Map project. Our goal is to make Zen practice more accessible and welcoming for foreign visitors and residents in Sapporo.

Want to experience a real local Zen community? We’d love to have you join us! Here are the details for our next session:

📍 Meeting Point
- Time: 8:15 AM
- Location: Starbucks at COCONO SUSUKINO
- Note: No need to buy a drink. We’ll leave for the temple right after meeting.
🚶 Access
- Take the subway to Susukino Station.
- We will walk from Starbucks to the temple together.
🧘 Activities (Approximate Schedule)
- 8:40 AM – 10:40 AM | Chuo-ji Temple
- Zazen (Seated Meditation) & Walking Meditation: 30 min + 5 min (2 rounds)
- Sutra Chanting/Reading: 15 min
- Cleaning (Samu): 10 min
- Afterward (Optional): We can take a walk or grab a drink at a nearby café.
💰 Fee
- 500 yen (A small donation to the temple)
👟 Preparation
- Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.

💡 A Few Tips:
- Sitting Session: If it’s your first time, crossing your legs might be a struggle. Don't worry! It’s perfectly fine to uncross them and sit in a way that feels comfortable for you.
- Reading Part: We read the texts in Japanese, which might be a bit confusing. If it’s hard to follow, feel free to just sit and listen to the "mysterious" mantras.
