High in the Himalayas lies the elusive "Forbidden Kingdom" of Mustang, a rarely visited enclave of Tibetan Buddhism, remaining relatively untouched by the outside world.
After collecting our special permits in Kathmandu, a short flight takes us to the beautiful city of Jomsom nestled amongst Himalayan giants, the main gateway to Upper Mustang.
Our trail follows the Kali Gandaki River and gorge to Kagbeni, the entrance to Upper Mustang. We hike through valleys, riverbed paths, and deep ravines flanked by towering snowy peaks.
Passing mud-brick villages adorned with tangled webs of Buddhist prayer flags, we venture deeper into this mysterious land, across the high-altitude desert with ancient stones carved with texts, past small dwellings with the opportunity to see rare wildlife.
Our main destination is the capital of the region, Lo Manthang, and the fascinating Tiji festival featuring mesmerizing masked dances and ancient rituals symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
This is "Nepal's best-kept secret." The adventure provides us insight into a unique blend of traditional culture, history, and nature—a true gem and the adventure of a lifetime for the intrepid traveler.

The Santa Cruz Trail in Peru's Cordillera Blanca is a breathtaking trek that immerses you in the heart of the Andes. This iconic route offers truly stunning views of snow-capped peaks, glacial lakes, and verdant valleys. Starting from Cashapampa, the trail takes you through a dramatic canyon, leading to expansive alpine meadows surrounded by towering mountains including Mount Alpamayo 5,947 m.
The highlight is the Punta Unión Pass at 4,750 m, where panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys unfold. As you descend, you'll pass through the serene Huaripampa Valley, with its wildflowers and grazing llamas. Along the way, you'll encounter the rich culture and history of the Andean highlands, with friendly locals and remnants of ancient civilizations. The Santa Cruz Trail is a must for trekkers seeking a blend of adventure and natural beauty.
