Grafana & Friends Hyderabad – Virtual Meetup

Online event

Get ready for an exciting event with **Grafana & Friends Pune: Happy Hours**! Grafana Labs is all set to host its next happy hour in collaboration with **[OpenGov](https://opengov.com)**.

**Agenda:**
Here's the detailed agenda of the meetup :

* **10:00 am** \- Intro and Welcome

* **10:30 am- 11:05 am:**
**Session 1: AI-Powered Autonomous Incident Investigation**, **[Kushal Gangan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kushal-gangan/)** (Principal Architect (DevOps), [Caizin](https://caizin.ai))
**About Session:** This session explores how AI agents can transform Grafana alerting into intelligent incident investigation. Through a live demo, I will show how agents correlate metrics, logs, Kubernetes events, and recent deployments to identify root causes and recommend fixes directly into a PR. I will also discuss autonomous investigations, guardrails, and human approval to make AI-assisted incident response reliable and safe.

* **11:10 am - 11:45 am:**
**Session 2: Managing GitHub with a Custom Kubernetes Controller, [Abhilash Supare](http://linkedin.com/in/abhilash-supare-5bb92b83)** (Devops Engineer, [OpenGov](https://opengov.com))
**About Session:** The problem: GitHub has no desired state, and managing it with one shared Terraform workspace made every change slow.
Why a controller: Kubernetes is already a reconcile engine. An honest look at the alternatives (Terraform, Crossplane, GitHub rulesets), and the price of building our own.
The design: a YAML file as the API, the path from a request form to a live repo, the reconcile loop, detecting and reverting drift, and calling GitHub without getting throttled.
Making delete safe: tombstones, a deletion cap, finalizers and an admission policy that blocks kubectl delete, and the lessons we learned the hard way.
Live demo (about 6 min): merge a PR and a repo appears, break its branch protection by hand and watch it heal.

* **11:50 noon - 12:25 pm:**
**Session 3: LGTM: Ship the database, [Pranav Joglekar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pranav-joglekar/)** (Founding Engineer, [Infino AI](https://infino.ai))
**About Session:** This talk covers how we use our self hosted LGTM stack ( Loki, Grafana, Tempo & Mimir ) to help us build & scale Infino.
\- Introduction about Infino\, its architecture & why latency matters for us\.
\- What is LGTM and how Infino uses the stack and other features\, especially from the POV of a database company
\- Deep dive into tempo\, tracing & profiling in rust\. What it is\, how to set it up & use it\.
\- Distributed tracing and how it's orchestrated \( at Infino \)\. \( ui\.perfetto\.dev for profiling \)
\- Talk about how we were able to 10x the optimizer speed and how tracing helped us do this quickly and confidently\.
\- Using it in the age of AI with an MCP demo\.

* **12:30 pm - 01:05 pm:**
**Session 4: Platform Data Analytics Observability: Turning Platform Telemetry into Actionable Insights, [Mohammad Zuber Rangari](http://linkedin.com/in/mohammad-zuber-rangari-7b6a06285)** (Platform Engineer, [OpenGov](https://opengov.com))
**About Session:** Building effective observability through metrics, logs, and traces to identify performance trends and anomalies.
Applying SLIs, SLOs, and actionable alerts to improve reliability.
Turning observability into actionable insights for optimization

* **01:05 pm Onwards:**
Networking, and Snacks

*We look forward to meeting you in person for a morning filled with insightful sessions, networking, and shared experiences!* *For any questions or to express interest in future speaking opportunities, please contact the organizers.*

InMobi Technology Services Pvt Ltd

👋 **Hello Grafana & Friends Singapore!**
This month, we are excited to partner with **Docker** and **Grafana Labs** for a collaborative evening of tech! Special shoutout to our community partners, **Workato** for this event.
As coding agents take on more of the day-to-day engineering work, the questions of where they run, what they can access, and how you observe what they're doing are becoming just as important as the code they write.
This month, we are bringing together engineers from the Docker and Grafana ecosystems to share practical implementation strategies and real-world patterns.
As always, come ready to learn, connect, and exchange ideas with the community.

### 🎤 Topic 1: YOLO mode needs plumbing: building agent integrations with Docker Sandboxes

**Speaker:** Oleg Selajev, Developer Advocate, Docker
**Session Abstract:**
Letting a coding agent install tools, run commands, and keep working without asking permission is a tempting way to get things done. But it still needs somewhere to run, access to the right services, and a setup you can reproduce without handing over your entire laptop.
We'll start with **Docker Sandboxes**: how they give agents room to work, what the isolation boundary protects, and how agents connect to the tools and services they need. Then we'll introduce **Sandbox Kits** to package those environments so each developer doesn't have to assemble and maintain their own collection of setup scripts.
We'll walk through building a **Grafana integration** that instruments the coding agent itself and sends its traces to Grafana. That means installing the tools, configuring how the agent starts, and handling credentials and network access inside the sandbox.
We'll also cover what belongs in a reusable kit, what stays specific to a developer or project, and what happens when dependencies change. You'll leave knowing how to build your own integrations and what you'll need to maintain once other people start using them.

### 🎤 Topic 2: Why Keep Docker Build Traces When Docker Already Shows Them?

**Speaker:** Yoshi Yamaguchi, Staff Developer Advocate, Grafana Labs
**Session Abstract:** Docker builds get slower one commit at a time, and you rarely know which commit caused it. BuildKit already records an OpenTelemetry trace of every build, and docker buildx history trace opens that trace in Jaeger. That view shows one build on one machine. By default, the builder keeps the latest 50 build records and removes older ones only after 48 hours. An ephemeral CI runner loses that history when the job ends.
In this session, I send the same traces to Grafana Tempo with two environment variables on the builder, and I keep every build. With that history, a TraceQL metrics query shows when the build time jumped. A commit ID on each trace then points to the change, and the trace shows which step got slower. A coding agent can do the same work through the Grafana MCP server. It searches the traces, finds the commit, fixes the Dockerfile, and checks the new build. For a single build on your laptop, Docker's own view is quicker.
After this session, you can send your build traces to Tempo and decide when the local view is enough.
