Seorae Global

Hello friends,

Every year, the municipal global centers of Seoul metropolitan area organize a general orientation session to address the most frequently asked questions that new inbound residents may have when arriving in Korea for the first time.

On September 9th 2025 (Tue) at 1 pm, at the Seorae Global Village Center, there will be an hour presentation on general administrative information good to know while living in Seoul (visa issues, transportation, education, banking..), followed by a 40 min presentation on medical system and care and lastly, a 25 min presentation on safety issues.

Everyone new to Korea is welcome to attend. There is no fee to join. Simply sign in by using the link below so that we know who you are and if you are coming. It's an in-person event and it is being sponsored by the Seorae Global Village Center, one of many global centers in Seoul designed to welcome foreign residents.

Since 2022, at Seorae Global located in Banpo, we have been running a small book club every month - every last Wednesday at 7 pm (90 min) - We pick a contemporary novel written by a Korean author translated into English. The genre varies from historical, to auto-biographical, thriller, sci-fi, or dark comedy, depending on that month's mood and motivation.

Please join us if you are interested in Korean contemporary literature in general or simply love reading!

THIS MONTH'S PICK is THE BOY WHO ESCAPED PARADISE (J.M. LEE)

One rule: we ask everyone to read the book of the month (or at least half way through) and commit to attending if you are registering for a spot. It is also a way to get closer to the various layers of Korean society and its people. If you are interested, please send us an email to seorae@seoul.go.kr. you will then receive a link to the registration page.

This is a club run by simple citizens interested in books and talking about them while respecting and appreciating one another's presence and participation.

If you are looking for a place to talk about Korean novels, look us up!

We meet every last Wednesday evening of each month to discuss a book written by a Korean writer. The book is selected organically but stays in the category of Korean contemporary literature. The genre can vary from historical novel, auto-biographical, thriller, suspense, sci-fi/ fantasy, or dark comedy, depending on the group's mood and interest. The discussion happens in English.

It's open to any adult living in Seoul who are into Korean contemporary literature.

This is a club is being facilitated by a staff of the Seorae Global Village Center. You can of course volunteer to be a moderator once in a while or to your heart's content :) We also take book recommendations and helpful comments!
