상세정보

We've been a little bit quiet for the last two months but we are still active.
This will be our twelfth event (and our tenth on Meetup).
So far, I'd estimate we have cleared up 420L of trash from some of Seoul and South Korea's mountains.
We're also enjoying the outdoors with good company too!

For this event, we are going to hike up Samak mountain in Gangwon-do.
The venue can be reached by public transportation from Seoul, but it also has spacious parking for those traveling by car.

This event is suitable for absolute beginners / first time hikers.
Going to the summit is steep, but we will take many rest stops. There is also plenty of interest (waterfalls and a narrow section of gorge) on the lower sections of trail for those who can't summit. The summit has fantastic river views.

We will be hiking up and down via the same trail. The clean up / litter pick will be done on descent.

The organizer will take care of all collected trash after the tour.

**********ESSENTIAL DETAILS**********************************************

강원 춘천시 서면 덕두원리 산183-4

This is the entrance to Deungseon Falls (등선폭포)

It is possible to arrive there by public transportation or taxi.

Take a bus from Gangchon station (Gyeongchun line) to 등선폭포 bus stop. There are multiple buses servicing the route and the ride takes about 8-10 minutes.

For people who are unsure how to navigate the local buses, it will be possible to meet at Gangchon station.

Parking is a 100m away here:
강원 춘천시 경춘로 1431

Parking Fees: 2000 won small car / 4000 won large car

To ensure parking, on a weekend, you should be there early.

Once we know numbers of participants, and whether or not people are driving, we may be able to arrange car sharing and how to split fuel costs.

We will meet and enter the trailhead at the same time.
Individuals are responsible for paying for their own entry to the mountain.

***********SIGN UP PROCEDURE*******************************************

For this meet up event, meetup sets an attendance limit at 10. Pay no attention to the attendance limit or numbers.

You can rsvp, but I would also like all attendees to message me privately on kakao.

To make group organisation and communication easier on the day of the event easier, I want to add you to a Kakao Group chat.

My ID is:
raftjak

In your message, if you don't already know me, please tell me your Meet Up name.
I will then add you to my own attendance list and the Group Chat.
Once added to the Group Chat, please message me directly/privately with any questions (so we don't spam the Group Chat).
Group Chat will be used for communication on the day of the event and for sharing photos after the event.

******************************************************************************

Attendees are under no pressure to do anything they feel is risky. Sometimes trash is tangled up in thorny undergrowth or positioned precariously near relatively steep drops.
We just like you to contribute in whatever way you can - your safety and comfort comes first.

The strategy for the clean up:

>We will loosely pair up and separate recyclables from general waste as we go.
>Please refer to the pictures in this event description for how we deal with each kind of rubbish we encounter.
>At the end of the event, the organiser will carry away all the collected trash and dispose of it appropriately.

As this event is focused on promoting sustainable mountain activities, we'd encourage you to think about how you provision yourself for the trip.
There is no judgement on the event, but this is a good opportunity to think about what kind of drinks and snacks you bring.
There are takeout coffee places nearby - you can bring a tumbler rather than using their single use takeout cups.
Instead of plastic water bottles, brining tea (hot or iced) in a reusable flask is another good option that overcomes the issue of poor drinkable tap water.

You'll need to bring:
- Appropriate hiking footwear
- Your own water and food
- Any personal medication which you might require

I'll provide:
- Trash and Recycling Bags
- A safe container for broken glass
- Gloves
- Tongs
- Hand sanitizer
- Group First Aid Kit

I recommend:
- Taking out your own travel insurance
- Bringing your own miniature first aid kit (or blister kit)

Thanks
Hope to see you on the mountain!
