**For ages 17 and above.** There are two types of waltzes that are performed in most ballrooms - the Slow Waltz and the Viennese Waltz. The classical Viennese Waltz is a quick ballroom dance that involves the dancers swirling around the whole dance floor, seemingly without touching the ground. The slightly easier Slow Waltz is a favourite dance among beginners and social dancers. Dancers develop a keen sense of rhythm and balance. **For ages 14 and above.** Samba is a fun, upbeat, lively dance that progresses counter-clockwise around the floor. **For ages 12 and above.** For beginners only! If you have never tried dancing and want to start somewhere, this is the perfect place. Learn body isolations and hiphop basics, together with a simple dance routine. The dance routine is taught step by step, combined into a full routine. P.S. For this casual dinner session, we make it more interesting by indicating everyone's Western & Eastern Zodiac signs on the contact list. For the Eastern zodiac, it will be indicated as a group (i.e. A/B/C or D) and not the individual sign. These details may be useful as topic starters and also for follow-up purposes. Tango’s passionate nature evokes a strong connection to the music, your partner and the audience, a dance that is exciting and often easy to learn. Deriving from Cuba, Cha Cha is characterized by its fun and flirtatious hip movements, beautiful spins and figures, with a variety of upbeat rhythms. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
