Old Sleepy Hollow Trail is bisected by Old Sleepy Hollow Road. It can be reached by taking
Route 117 to Route 448. If you are coming from the Taconic, you make a left at the traffic light onto Rt 448. If you are coming from Rte. 9, you make a right at the traffic light onto Rt 448. Almost immediately after you turn onto Rte. 448, Old Sleepy Hollow Road is on your right. Make the right. Stay on Old Sleepy Hollow Road until the road ends. Turn left. The road is still called Old Sleepy Hollow Road. Shortly, you'll see cars parked along the side of the road. Park and walk to the trail head.

This is a moderate to fast hike, 6 to 7 miles. We will be walking mostly on carriage trails. Hike pace, distance, and/ or route will be altered to accommodate weather related hiking conditions.

Liability Waiver: This is a fun and interesting group of people who enjoy hiking. It is not organized by a professional hiker.

Hiking or outdoor activities have inherent risks. Your participation in our hikes or other events could be dangerous and can result in serious injury, medical emergency, even death.

Everyone starts on the waitlist. First spots always go to the regulars with a solid history of attendance. Please check in with me if this is your first event with the group - I need to know where you have hiked recently before I can add you.

We will be on the move at 8:59 AM so please plan to arrive early if you require additional prep time. The Park charges $10.00 after 9AM

Note - Cell service in parts of the park is spotty -if you are running late, I may not be able to receive any calls or texts.

Meetup Location - Michigan Road Lot

Upon entering the park, pass the booth and make your first right onto Michigan Road. Stay straight on Michigan Road until you reach the end of the road - room for 10 cars on the right and 60 cars on your left

Please bring water, snacks, bug spray, a hat, sunscreen, and a smile.

Parking is free for 62 year olds and up in the lot; street parking is available. We will aim for 21 minutes per mile pace. Distance/Terrain: 4.5 to 5.5 miles will be the approximate goal. If inclement weather looks to be a problem, a revised post will be up by noon and the walk will be rescheduled to Thursday, weather permitting.
Directions: Overall - start point is main Rockefeller State Park parking lot, about a 3 minute drive west from Pace University and Taconic and 9A exits on route 117 and about one mile going east from route 9 exit onto route 117..
