Starting from the historic Church of St Mary Magdalene in Hart Village, this scenic circular walk takes us through a varied landscape of woodland, open countryside, and quiet historic sites.
Heading north, our route leads into the wooded valley of Crimdon Beck, where peaceful surroundings and natural beauty set the tone for the walk. A steady climb out of the valley brings us past Hesleden Hall and into the small hamlet of Monk Hesleden.
The path then passes through an atmospheric, abandoned cemetery—once linked to the now-demolished St Mary’s Church—before descending back into the valley to cross the beck once more. Turning south, the route follows a network of footpaths and bridleways through tranquil countryside.
For the final stretch, our walk takes us east before joining Butts Lane, which gently guides us back to Hart Village and our starting point at the church.
