Data Science DC is a professional group that meets approximately monthly to discuss diverse topics in machine learning, AI, and data science.
Our members are data professionals, students, and others with a deep interest in these fields and related technologies. Meeting topics are varied and range from discussions of tools, new technologies, and best practices. All are welcome to attend. To submit a potential presentation, please fill out this form.

APIs are a critical piece of modern data science and AI. Ryan will share tips for using APIs with Python open source tools from his book including: deploying machine learning models using FastAPI and ONNX, consuming APIs in StreamLit apps, and consuming APIs with LangChain Generative AI application.
This is also a special book launch event for Ryan Day’s new book Hands-on APIs for AI and Data Science, coming from O’Reilly Publishing in April 2025. The event will begin with refreshments, social time, and an opportunity to get copies of Ryan’s book signed by the author. If you have already purchased the book, bring your copy to get signed, or you can get specially priced books at the event.
Ryan will have a drawing for copies of other O’Reilly books that he found especially useful while researching his topic.

Ryan Day is an advanced data scientist at the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS). Previously, he led the digital services division for the General Services Agency (GSA), advancing cloud computing, data science and API development initiatives. He is the author of Hands-on APIs for AI and Data Science, which will be published by O’Reilly Publishing in April 2025.Logistics
