This group will be hiking regularly in the area of Southern Rhode Island (Exeter, Charlestown, Westerly, etc.), and occasionally beyond!
This group was made for people who love to hike, and may be members of other hiking Meetup groups, but cannot routinely drive up to the hikes in Northern Rhode Island on busy weekdays.

New Year's Day hike: Browning Mill Pond, Roaring Brook, and Arcadia Trail

Description:
This will be a 6+ mile loop hike located in the Southeast section of Arcadia Management Area. We will meet at the Browning Mill Pond gravel parking lot off of Arcadia Road and begin the hike around the pond. The trail passes by an abandoned fish hatchery, dams, the remains of an old Civilian Conservation Corps lean-to, a picnic pavilion, and "Young Boulder".
We will also hike in the area across Arcadia Road that includes the trails in the Roaring Brook & Tefft Hill sections of Arcadia. There are some hills, stream crossings, and obstacles on these trails such as fallen trees, roots, and rocky terrain. There will also be a more difficult section of the trail that goes through the infamous boulder field.
With the rocky trails, a pair of hiking boots is strongly suggested. Trekking poles are recommended for those who use them. As always bring sufficient water and snacks along for the hike.
