Hansard @ Lace Market Theatre
Lace Market Theatre, Halifax Place, Nottingham, GB"Robin Hesketh, Tory MP and junior minister, returns to his country house looking forward to a restful weekend, only to find a fox digging up his lawn and his wife digging up the past. 1988. It’s a year into Margaret Thatcher’s third term as PM and her government has just passed Section 28, forbidding schools and local authorities from “promoting the acceptability of homosexuality”.
Robin and Diana’s marriage has become increasingly rocky over the years, and the acerbic exchange that ensues, as amusing as it is disturbing, is nothing new to them. But today Diana is particularly incensed by Robin’s support for this legislation. Coupled with her suspicions of his infidelity, she is determined to have the issue out, despite Robin’s distinct reluctance to go down that particular track.
From bitingly witty to tenderly honest, from satirical to brutal, this is at heart a very human story, inexorably driving its way to a devastating conclusion. But perhaps from the ruins that are left, there is hope for healing to begin…"Buy your Own Ticket Here . . £15 . . . Unallocated seating for an upstairs 'studio' performance.

Lady Maisery @ Squire PAC
Squire Performing Arts Centre, 9 Arboretum Street, NG1 4JB, Nottingham, GBExquisite folk music from this talented Sheffield trio, I've seen them before.
"The combined vocal and multi-instrumental talents of Rowan Rheingans, Hazel Askew and Hannah James make up the uniquely captivating band Lady Maisery who have, for well over a decade, enraptured audiences throughout the UK and Europe.
Individually three multi award-winning artists, Lady Maisery form a unified voice, carrying stories of sisterhood, human struggle, the joy of living and the vitality of song with the “freshest possible take on traditional music” (Folk Radio UK). Their long-standing effervescent collaboration has been described as “adventurous and beautiful” (Mark Radcliffe, Radio 2) “exquisite and thrilling” (The Guardian) with “a generosity of spirit and joie de vivre that seems to emanate from every minute of their recorded output as well as from their exuberant live shows” (Folk Radio UK).
Their fifth studio album Tender was released at the end of 2022 to far-reaching acclaim. An arresting record exploring the power in vulnerability, the tenderness of collective wounds and the strength in kindness, it was hailed “a beguiling blend of ancient and modern” (The Times) and “both nurturing and raw, a sensitive response to the times we are living in” (Daily Info).
Tender entered the Official Indie Album Charts at number 18, the Official Indie Album Breakers Chart at number 3 (rare accolades for British folk!) before spending a whole year in the Official Folk Chart’s Top 40.
In 2026 the band will be previewing some new songs before heading into the studio."

The Duchess of Malfi @ Lace Market Theatre
Lace Market Theatre, Halifax Place, Nottingham, GB"John Webster’s violent tale of misogyny and deceit from 1612.
A forbidden marriage. A hidden family. A dangerous web of secrets and lies. Remarkable for its inventive and grotesque violence, yet full of dark humour, Webster’s original Jacobean tale of misogyny and deceit is propelled forwards in time to the period of the Industrial Revolution. This Steam-Punk inspired production highlights the rigid male-dominated world where decisions are made against a backdrop of misogyny, lust and resentment.
The recently widowed Duchess falls in love with her steward, Antonio. Trying to prevent their fiercely independent sister from marrying beneath her class, her corrupt brothers go on a disturbing quest to control her.
They unleash a series of cruel and devastating punishments that suppress her power. But will their vicious atrocities come back to haunt them?
How far does a woman have to go to protect those she loves the most? And what desperate measures will the men in her life take to determine her fate?
How can anyone survive in a world where masculinity has become so toxic?"
Contains violence and adult themes.Join me to see this famous example of early modern drama, often considered a masterpiece of the period, sitting after the more lighthearted era of Shakespeare's Elizabethan plays. A key Jacobean revenge tragedy, DoM is characterized by its intense violence, moral corruption, and a focus on horror, heavily influenced by the Roman playwright Seneca.
