Sunday Book Club

The Steal Like an Artist Journal by Austin Kleon is a hands-on companion to Steal Like an Artist. It is full of small, playful exercises that help you notice what inspires you, collect ideas, and turn influence into your own creative practice.

This meetup will focus on doing activities from the journal together. We’ll spend time writing, sketching, listing, reflecting, and sharing what we discover along the way.

Building on our first meeting, we’ll try a slightly simpler rhythm this time: fewer activities, shorter timed sharing, and more room to go deeper when something catches the group’s energy. We’ll also keep time at the end for general discussion and reflection, including how we might carry ideas from the exercises into our own creative practices.
This way, we can explore a smaller number of activities more fully, finish on time, and still leave space for the conversation to grow naturally. Suggestions for activities are welcome!

Prep before the meetup~

• Bring The Steal Like an Artist Journal and a pen or pencil for the exercises
• Recommended: read or skim Chapters 3 and 4 of Steal Like an Artist
• Come ready to try small creative exercises together

11:00 – Arrive, grab a coffee, and settle in
11:15 – Exercises and discussion
We’ll also share:

• Aha moments and reflections from the exercises
• Creative ideas, projects, and works in progress
• Recommendations and inspiration

Optional: lunch together afterward, when possible, for those who want to keep the conversation going.
