In April,spring will come! for sure, the winter will be gone! flowers are blossoming,showing their beautiful existence of colors and shapes off~!

And there is another wonderful thing happening in this calm Jindo island,sea-parting to another island~!

and its festival~

We departs Friday night to join the all the events and to enjoy the most of them!

The parting of the sea allowes visitors to walk through the sea from mainland to other island. This phenomenon is caused due to the difference in high tides and low tides, which creates a 2.8-kilometer-long road measuring 40 to 60 meters in width. The Jindo Sea-parting Festival takes place at the same time as this phenomenon once a year. Visitors can enjoy walking along the sea road, gathering abalone and various other fun activities that make up the festival program. The spectacular sight of the waves parting is widely known and many people travel to Korea from all over the world just to witness this amazing event ~! This is reported by French ambassador Pierre Landy in 1975, who wanted to research the Jindo Aririang. There is a small park with his statue.

Jindo is the 3rd largest island in Korea and is connected from the peninsula by a bridge. It has 230 more small islands around it with beautiful scenaries and part of Hallyeo maritime national park. Also,well-known for the Jindo dogs, Korean national symbol besides Arirang sing and dance,home of Korean painting of nature.

So,there are some must-go places only you can see in Jindo island~!

♣ Jindo Arirang Performance

Jindo arirang is the one of the 3 well-known arirang in Korea and finally is registered as an UNESCO world heritage because it has unique way of dancing and singing and many variations of the song exist.

There will be performance at the festival and you can take part in dancing together! It's very easy to dance around together~!

♣ Jindo dog

There are 2 typical dogs well-known in Korea.One is Jindo dog, mostly white, brown, fast,furious but very royal, well-tamed to host. It is Natural Monument No53. another is Sapsalge,Natual Monument No368 is big,hairy almost cover the eyes.it is almost extinct and very rare after korean war.

♣ Unlimsanbang - National Scenic Beauty No80

this is a most well-known for the late of Joseon Dynasty,

painter Heo-yu, unique way of korean painting of nature,

and unique artelier that all of his family for 3 generations more develop the

way of painting. the artelier is really unique and beautiful and

there is a museum you can look around. don't miss to visit!

♣ Hiking - Natural Monument No107 Forest "Cheom-chal san(486meter)"

behind the Unlimsanbang is the highest mountain in Jindo

  • it has gorgeous SSang-gye sa temple which is 1,500 year history

  • very southern atmosphere forest,[Natural Monument No107] which is very rare that the all the valley and forest are designated as a natural monument in Korea.

  • command a great view of all the Jindo island and of ocean.

It takes only approx. 2 hours to hike to the top, but it will treat you with the great view. Anyone can walk until they reach the temple and spring in valley. You can always go at your own pace!

[♣ Hongju liquor]

Jindo Hongju "red liquor" is used to be the strongest alcohol in Korea. Now they are moderate it to 40% (like most of whiskey) Don't miss the chance to taste it for free during the festival !

It's not well-developed to cater to tourists.

There aren't many pensions (viilla style) or motels. As a result,

we stay at the Minbak, a local house to offer to stay for vacation.

It's right next to the main concert and all the food festival area.

Really cute Jindo dogs at house will welcome us and the host will be happy to

have all foreigners.

Some rooms have an indoor/outdoor shower,heated floor and living room.

But, that shouldn't matter, because you will stay at the festival area or the beach!

  • We prepare breakfast. We should prepare breakfast because there isn't much offered at the festival during this time of the day.[BREAKFAST] burrito or sandwich ,vegetables,dishes,boiled eggs,salsa sauce etc
