What is Mother of Pearl? 나전칠
Mother of pearl, known as najeonchilgi in Korea, is a traditional craft that dates back
to the Joseon Dynasty.
Artisans carefully inlaid shimmering shell pieces into
lacquerware, creating intricate designs that symbolized elegance, patience, and
craftsmanship.
Interestingly, this delicate material connects far beyond Korea. Bahrain, the hosts
home, has a rich history of pearls which she will tell you in detail during the
workshop.
