Pregnant, then screwed?

🚨 MEETUP UPDATE 🚨
Xena Meetups are back! We are super excited to kick off our first Meetup of 2022 in partnership with Hubs in Amsterdam.
What's the theme?
Although pregnancy shouldn't affect your career progression, it will usually interrupt it. You should be able to return to work at the same level of seniority you left it. But you can't accrue experience or technical skill whilst you're not at work, so you're leave will halt your progress until you return.
For those in the tech field family planning and pregnancy comes with its own set of challenges. Usually caused by the startup culture and a massive gender gap. Let's be honest, bias sucks, and gender bias still exists. So let's use our own experiences to overcome challenges women may face in the industry.
What do we want to learn at this Meetup?
---> How can companies better support women to minimise the interruption of motherhood/parenthood on your career progression
---> How can companies support women who are not ready to become mothers and what options are available
We Are Xena: Women In Tech are excited to bring our first Meetup to Amsterdam in partnership with Hubs. So, who is this event for?
---> Women working in technology
---> Women who are not ready for motherhood and are curious about their options
---> People curious about the challenges of parenthood in the tech industry
Your questions, answered. Our tech industry experts will cover the following topics:
--> What challenges do you experience as a mother in tech?
--> Does maternity discrimination and biases in tech still exist?
--> What are the realities for women getting back into tech after maternity leave?
If you're a mother working in technology, then we want to hear from you! Tell us your experience of being a mother working in tech using the below link (max 100-300 words):
https://wearexena.typeform.com/to/UEoi7MXz
Maybe you work for a progressive tech company and you can tell us the perfect formula to help support women. Or perhaps your experience of motherhood was more challenging. Either way, we want to hear it.
Why? We'll share these stories at our event so our panel of industry experts can help us strategise for change.
IMPORTANT: All stories submitted will remain completely anonymous.
