Well known are the healing benefits of dance. Dance makes us smarter, reduces stress and increases energy.
However not many are familiar with the emotional and psychological impact that movement can have on mental health and well-being. Study have shown that 55% of our way of communicating is non- verbal so wouldn’t it make sense to work with a professional who can address that?

About the therapist: Claudia Scaringella is a Dance Movement Therapist graduated from Codarts.
She works in my private practice in centre The Hague.

She also has experience working in clinical settings and she is dance teacher/dancer and coordinator for Misiconi dance company, an inclusive dance company with dancers with and without disabilities. She believes that creative expression in dance can enhance our communication skills and inspire new dynamic relationships with one’s self and others.

What is Dance Movement therapy? : Dance Movement therapy (DMT) can be defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement. Emotion is felt and expressed in motion. One connects with the other.
This relationship between the two can be explored in DMT session, opening a new path for self- exploration and self- development. You do not have to be a dancer or have any skill to participate and benefit from dance movement therapy!

What are the benefits of these sessions ?: “ Dance/movement therapy can benefit people of all ages, abilities, and life circumstances because it supports the individual on a body level where they are in that specific moment in time. Dance therapy has a broad range of health benefits. It has been demonstrated to be clinically effective at improving body image, self-esteem, attentiveness, and communication skills. It can also reduce stress, fears and anxieties, as well as lessen feelings of isolation, body tension, chronic pain, and depression. In addition it can enhance the functioning of the body’s circulatory and respiratory systems”.
