Join us for the launch of the worlds first IoT Olympics!

(scroll down to have a look at the program)

focus of the meetup:
We will outline the program, develop and brainstorm ideas and do some first prototyping and design work.

We want to kickstart a number of projects for the IOT Olympics with this meetup.

And invite the teams to continue work on these projects at the IOT Olympics @ Oosterpark meetup (https://www.meetup.com/Amsterdam-iBeacon-Living-Lab/events/228549834/) on Tuesday Feb 23rd. (sign up for that too!)

outline
Formally known as the "EU presidency IoT Challenge" we are making this meetup a joint event with the monthly Amsterdam Sensemakers (IoT) Meetup as this will be a landmark event for the IoT community.

The iBLL phase 3 is well under way and we are working hard with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), INFO.NL and other BAMBEA project leaders to implement a LoRa managed IoT beacon and sensor network in the Oosterpark by mid February as the iBLL continues to expand throughout the city.

Thanks to ODINE and our other partners we are ready to enable challenges which will use this unique IoT network to make a positive impact on the city and it's citizens and with the Oosterpark infrastructure ready for testing the HvA wants to see solutions that get people moving in the worlds first IoT enabled Park.

Also, we are very happy to announce that Casper Koomen, who came up with the IoT Olympics concept, is joining the iBLL team and will help lead the effort which will continue through June 2016 leading up to The European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam in July.

IOT Olympics criteria

For the launch, you and iBLL partners and sponsors propose challenges to create IoT enabled Smart City Solutions and we will open the Olympics to POC proposals that fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Solutions must be VALUE FIRST. The solution must have NO PROFIT MOTIVE or business plan. Solutions need to solve a serious problem or create new opportunities with no forward looking revenue models- People before profit!

  2. The solution uses the IoT infrastructure provided by the iBLL and the city of Amsterdam or extend those networks with beacons, sensors or other IoT devices that contribute OPEN DATA to the cloud including but not limited to the iBLL open API.

  3. The solution must be developed into a proof of concept (POC) or minimum viable product (MVP) and demonstrate real IoT enabled interactivity using the data generated to contribute to meaningful and actionable end user experiences.

The specifics about the criteria and the IoT Olympic challenges will be discussed at this Meetup along with what are always very interesting speakers and because of the special nature of this joint meetup we will also offer on hands Arduino, Raspberry Pi, iBeacon, Eddystone and LoRa beacon and other sense making hardware orientations.

More details will follow soon so save the date, RSVP now and stay tuned!
