Wat we doen

Our peer support group is only for adults (18+) who have been diagnosed with, identify with, or experience traits of Borderline Personality Disorder.

We will explore strength and coping within a community-based setting to build connections with peers and non-peers outside of clinical spaces to have a life worth living together in our communities through weekly support meetings.

This group is highly focused on peer participation; this means that peers do not just come and go but are active participants in the organization and growth of the group. While there are two organizers (Amanda and Mariya), this group relies on the participation and commitment of its members to continue to run effectively. The collective agreement of the group in what it wants to accomplish or do in the moment is paramount to basic structures that may be in place.

For folks who have anxiety about coming to a new group or are unsure of how our group meetings will be structured:

We will have a general check in at the start of each meeting which will be completely open and not necessarily related to the week's central theme.

- Each week we will be discussing a topic(s) chosen by the group from the previous meeting or the group will choose to talk about something else instead

- We finish the group with electing to read a mindful piece reading, chat socially, as well as pick the topic for the following peer group as well as talk about the DBT skills in the Skills practice group the following week
