Wat we doen

This meetup group is for people concerned with climate change, and its impact on an individual, local community, and global level.

  • You are worried about the liveability in your region or on the planet as a whole but you are not sure how to talk about your concerns, or whom to talk to;
  • You are wondering what action you can take - individually or collectively - to impact climate change, such as decreasing your household’s carbon footprint, building up skills to become more self-sufficient or advocating for action on climate change to local, state, or (inter)national politicians;
  • You are curious about climate justice, degrowth and systemic change;
  • You are interested in discussing these or other climate-related topics, with other Amsterdam residents.

Our activities will include:

  • Regular meetups for developing and exchanging self-sufficiency skills like urban gardening, upcycling, woodworking, repairing bikes, composting, preserving food.
  • Regular discussions to understand climate-related developments, solutions and science.
  • Regular meetings to debrief; vent; connect; brainstorm.

This is a community of practice, not a lecture, nor an informational meeting. It is not about guilt trips. It is also not a group for debating whether climate change is human-induced or not- we take that as a given, based on overwhelming scientific evidence.

All are welcome, regardless of age, gender, race, orientation, immigration status, experience, or knowledge, or carbon-footprint.

Lots of things to do and lots of things to reflect on. In this case, there is no doing without thinking, and no thinking without doing!

Join us to meet like-minded people and learn new skills that are kinder for our planet AND can save you money!

Homebase for these activities is De Kaskantine, currently being built by volunteers in Slotervaart, Amsterdam.
