The cliche becomes true, after the movie Money Ball (2011) Brad Pitt & Jonah Hill have put data analytics on the map for professional sports teams and all of the sports industry. In this session we will explore recent initiatives and dive deeper into the effects big data has on sports.

SciSports was founded with the goal to build a real-life version of Football Manager. Almost fifty football organizations use the sports data intelligence and the new product BallJames enables clubs to use real-time 3D data. Giels will talk about how to transform large amounts of data into actionable insights in the decision making

VoetbalTV - an initiative of KNVB and Talpa Network - is an online platform on which matches of amateur football in the Netherlands are broadcasted live. It will be a social platform, where players can share clips and highlights from the competition with friends and family.
Ultimately, the goal is to broadcast about 80,000 matches a year live. With this, VoetbalTV is a technically complex project where the processing of large amounts of data plays a central role. We will discuss the various challenges for VoetbalTV, including zooming in on how Deep Learning has been used to realize automatic video recording.
