Git is probably the most widely used development tool in the world, yet few understand it thoroughly. Do you know how Git internally stores your commits? Is ‘squash’ really squashing anything? How does Git store all that history so efficiently? But why should you even know all of this? Don’t worry, I’m not here to teach you the command line, or convince you to use it. I believe that understanding the fundamental building blocks of Git helps you understand complex concepts easier and quicker, such as the (for many) still daunting interactive rebase. Gear up, put on your mask, whether you are seasoned pro or just getting started, and prepare for a deep dive into Git.
