A Summer Day At The Zoo
Bronx Zoo: Gate B, Exit 6 Bronx River Parkway, Bronx, NY, USWednesday 26th August. Just for a change we are doing a weekday meetup for anyone that can attend. (call in sick????)
We'll meet at 10 am at the Zoo's Bronx River entrance (Gate B)
Best and nearest train is the # 2. Take the train to Pelham Parkway. This elevated station has three elevators that lead down to street level. Then head west a short distance to the zoo. This train takes around 50 minutes from Columbus Circle so plan your trip using that info.
Also note this express bus on Madison Ave. stops at Gate B https://www.mta.info/schedules/bus/bxm11
General admission is free all day on Wednesdays at the Bronx Zoo. Here are instructions on how to get tickets.....
The Wednesday Bronx Zoo Tickets Store will open Monday 24th, afternoon at 5pm for that Wednesday’s reservations.
Get your ticket here > https://ticketing.wcs.org/webstore/shop/viewItems.aspx?cg=WEDBZ&c=BXWED"This ticket is valid for the complete number of guests on the order. All guests must enter together and ticket cannot be separated for entry. Max of 4 tickets per order.
Every visitor, age 3 and up, is required to have a Wednesday ticket for entry.
Ticket reservations require name and valid email address, and can only be used on the date specified.
Be ready for contactless entry to the park. Tickets should be shown via mobile device or can be printed."There are two ticket prices available. The first is free but does not include some of the prime attractions. The second is half price at around $15 and includes everything. If you use the free ticket, as most of us will probably do, and there is a prime attraction (Bug Carousel, Butterfly Garden, Children's Zoo, Congo Gorilla Forest, Jungle World, Nature Trek, Wild Asia Monorail, and Zoo Shuttle for instance) that you really want to visit you can pay a $7 entry just for that attraction.
Even with a free ticket there is a huge amount to see and photograph at the zoo. We will probably spend most of the afternoon wandering throughout the park so this Meetup will probably run longer than three hours.
***
There is no charge for this event other than optional zoo attractions, any food and beverage and train fares.
Do check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
Don't forget your charged batteries and empty memory cards.
Please DO be on time. The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Allow yourself enough travel time and check with the MTA for any subway updates.
Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page.
If you are late you will have to search the zoo for us! I will attempt to monitor the meetup comments but once my camera is out my attention is mostly on taking pictures just like you.
Cellular phone numbers are private and will not be provided. If you have questions, please leave them in the comments section below before the event.
