The Ukulele Rebellion has begun! Join us at our various monthly meetings (and other events).
We are an educational group, seeking to teach beginners and beyond to play the ukulele. Our primary songbooks are The Daily Ukulele (the Yellow Book) and The Daily Ukulele Leap Year Edition (the Blue Book) published by Flea Market Music.
We also play some songs from chord/lyric sheets that can be downloaded (see below).
We ask for a $5 donation per meeting to pay for Meetup.com site maintenance and other expenses.
If you can print out your own copies of the "alternate" songs from the Files section of the group (Under "More" above), that would be fabulous! The songs for each meetup that have been requested (both new and old) are in a file with the meetup's date. The whole book is under "Rebellious Songbook." The Xmas songs are under "Rebellious Xmas Songs."

Virtual Ukulele Rebellion 107 -- Celebrating Six Years on Zoom!
·OnlineOnlineSan Francisco Ukulele Rebellion met on Zoom for the first time on April 18, 2020. This April, we'll be celebrating our sixth anniversary on Zoom, and on the very same day in April as our first meeting! As we did for our previous anniversaries, we'll play your favorite songs and/or songs that might have helped you get through the Covid-19 pandemic. Please consider sharing favorite songs that you have NOT shared in a previous San Francisco Ukulele Rebellion Zoom meetup. We'll play music from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time.
To address recent instances of Zoom-bombing, I have created a waiting room and I will be looking at and implementing additional security procedures for access to Zoom. Please make sure your Zoom name is one I recognize. Peoplw who appear in the Zoom waiting room will not be admitted to the Zoom meeting if any of the hosts do not recognize his or her name. The Zoom link will appear on this page when you RSVP. If Zoom asks for a passcode, the passcode is Rebellion. The passcode is case-sensitive.
If you'd like to lead a song, please let me know, either by posting here in the comments or by email, which song(s) you would like to lead. The cut-off time for requesting to lead a song is THE TUESDAY BEFORE THE MEETING (for this meeting, Tuesday April 14), even if you're going to be leading a song from one of the Daily Ukulele books. I'll post a songlist here in advance of our meeting.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO LEAD A SONG USING SHEET MUSIC OR A CHORD CHART THAT ISN'T IN THE YELLOW BOOK, THE BLUE BOOK, OR THE BBJ GROOVY SONGBOOK, EMAIL THE DOCUMENT TO ME IN DIGITAL FORMAT IN ADVANCE SO THAT I CAN UPLOAD IT TO DROPBOX AND POST IT ON THE SCREEN FOR OTHERS.
PLEASE NOTE: To accommodate all first song requests, we may not have time to get to all second (or third) song requests. When asking to lead more than one song, please indicate your first and second choices to ensure that, if we can't get to your second request, the song you'd most like to lead is included in that evening's song list. Thank you in advance for your willingness to lead songs and your understanding about how the song list for each meeting is prepared.

Second Saturday of the Month - Live and In Person #32 -- YELLOW BOOK!

We continue with our rotation of playing from only one of the three Daily Ukulele Books each month. This month we'll return to the original Daily Ukulele book (the Yellow Book).
If you'd like to play a song that isn't in the Yellow Book, please let me know in advance so I can post a link to the song chart on our meetup page, and please bring additional copies with you.
If you don’t have the Yellow, Blue, or Purple Books yet, you can purchase them from Jim Beloff’s website [https://www.fleamarketmusic.com/store/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=24].
You can also find them on amazon.com and other online bookstores, on eBay, and at local music shops and bookstores. Please bring your instrument(s), a floor or table music stand, your singing voices, and your fabulous ukulele spirit!We'll play music from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, with a short intermission.
We'll go around the room so that everyone can pick songs to play. If you pick a song, you will be encouraged (but not required) to lead it. If you'd like to let the group know in advance which songs you plan to select, please post the songs you choose in the comments, and we'll play one of those songs each time it's your turn to pick a song.

I think it's safe for us to meet, but I strongly encourage people to observe social distancing and other measures, like masking, that have been shown to inhibit the spread of airborne viruses like Covid and the flu. For the safety of others in the group, please don't attend this meetup if you are not feeling well or if you are experiencing Covid-like or flu-like symptoms. I won't require people to test for Covid, but I strongly encourage you to test for Covid on Saturday afternoon. From what I understand, most of the people I know who have gotten Covid recently got it from someone who didn't even know they had it at the time of exposure. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.
