Enterprise Search with Apache Solr and Elasticsearch

We are proud to announce the first Hippo Meetup NL 2013 on January 15th at 17:30. The theme for this evening session is Enterprise Search.

The session is organized by and hosted at Hippo. The location is "Hippo B.V. Oosteinde 11 1017 WT Amsterdam The Netherlands". How to get there is explained in details below.
Drinks and food will be available. The location will be able to accommodate a maximum of 25 people, so make sure you sign up to ensure your spot!

As usual for the Hippo meet-ups, we do not have a fixed agenda for the evening. People are encouraged to contribute whatever questions, talks or discussions and we will finalize the agenda at the meetup. Feel free to propose something beforehand, but you can also do that right here on the meetup site.

For our first Hippo meetup we will be focussing on Enterprise Search (Apache SolrTM and ElasticSearch). SolrTM (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/) is the popular, blazing fast open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene (http://lucene.apache.org/) project. Its major features include powerful full-text search, hit highlighting, faceted search, near real-time indexing, dynamic clustering, database integration, rich document (e.g., Word, PDF) handling, and geospatial search. SolrTM is highly reliable, scalable and fault tolerant, providing distributed indexing, replication and load-balanced querying, automated failover and recovery, centralized configuration and more. SolrTM powers the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest internet sites.

ElasticSearch (http://www.elasticsearch.org) is the new kid on the block. An Apache Lucene-based search engine built from the ground up with a strong focus of being distributed. ElasticSearch is schema free & document oriented and provides already most of the functionalities Apache SolrTM does.

We are expecting talks from Triforks (http://www.trifork.nl/en/home.html)' Jettro Coenradie and Luca Cavanna. We encourage everyone to contribute there own knowledge of the subject!
