This evening is all about networking and learning topics such as Big Data, NoSQL, Infrastructure, Kubernetes, Cloud Native, and DevOps. Feel free to join us and help build and shape the Amsterdam community around these topics!
Experts from Miro and Aerospike will discuss how to tackle today’s toughest real-time data challenges at the vibrant Miro office right next to Leidseplein.
Tasty food and drinks will be provided. The first talk will start at 7:00pm.

Talk 1: Building a Cloud Native Data Infrastructure Platform at Miro by Riccardo M. Cefalà, Engineering Manager at MIro

This is the account of the experience gained in building an Internal Development Platform at Miro, a leader in the visual collaboration workspace, during its period of hyper-growth. When a SaaS company suddenly becomes successful, SRE and DevOps teams are forced to work overtime to ensure that the ship stays afloat and developers can do their job. Pragmatic shortcuts to cope with the explosion of users take precedence over Cloud Native principles, and supporting growth becomes essential for the survival of the business.
Miro’s Data DevOps Team overcame the crisis by betting on a Data Infrastructure Platform based on Kubernetes, Open Source solutions (ArgoCD, Backstage, Airflow, Flink), and other Cloud Services (AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake). We will gather lessons and principles and highlight the missteps made before reaching the current milestone, a flexible solution capable of growing (and shrinking) with Miro’s needs.

Talk 2: Achieving cache-level performance without storing data in RAM by Behrad Babaee, Principal Solutions Architect at Aerospike

In today's digital age, balancing high throughput and low latency in data processing without excessive costs is a major challenge. This talk presents an innovative approach that reduces reliance on RAM for caching, offering more economical solutions. We'll explore how alternative technologies, such as non-volatile memory and disk-based caching, can boost system performance and scalability, supported by real-world case studies and insights into the latest advancements. Attendees will learn how to implement these solutions for improved efficiency and functionality
