Japanese Language Club in Amstelveen

Let's practice translating! We'll split into multiple small groups and each group will try to translate either a Japanese story to English (they all have furigana, so you don't need to worry about knowing kanji), or a short English story to Japanese.

All the necessary materials will be provided, but you can bring your own pen and notebook.

Dear members,

First of all, thank you so much for your continued support of the group. I’m grateful that we’re able to keep this regular event going as part of our signature series.

I’m also happy to share some news — we’ve renamed the event to “Japanese Language Club in Amstelveen.”

We recently reorganised our team by making all organisers ‘co-organisers,’ which gives us more flexibility in scheduling and planning future events. To better reflect the diversity of our members’ motivations and approaches to learning Japanese, we’ve updated the former Japanse Taalclub to the new name, which we hope feels more inclusive and welcoming — especially to non-Dutch speakers.

Aside from the name, nothing else has changed. We’ll continue to enjoy our relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with casual conversations and games on the weekends — just as always, welcoming both regulars and new faces.

We warmly welcome anyone who shares an interest in Japan, including those who are:
– interested in the Japanese language and how to use it, regardless of their level.
– keen to share stories about living in or travelling to Japan.
– curious about exploring both traditional and modern aspects of Japanese culture.
– especially those from Japan who want to maintain or improve their English by talking about familiar cultural topics.

I’d also like to share a personal principle that guides this group: ichigo ichie — the idea that every encounter is a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Whether we meet in person or online, let’s treat each other with kindness and respect, and create a warm, thoughtful community together.

I truly hope everyone in the group finds joy and inspiration through these cultural adventures.

新旧メンバーの皆さんへ（2025年5月更新）

私たちの代名詞でもあるこの日本語レギュラーイベントに参加していただいて、いつもありがとうございます！

グループの発足以来ずっと続けてきたこのイベントシリーズ「Japanse Taalclub in Amstelveen」を、この度「Japanese Language Club in Amstelven」に改称することにいたしました。

私たちは最近、運営チームのメンバー全員の肩書を「コオーガナイザー」に変更し、将来のイベント運営についてチームとしてより柔軟に企画やスケジュール調整が行え、オーガナイザーそれぞれの意見がより反映される運営体制になります。

グループの新しい運営体制がもたらす多様性を象徴するため、またオランダ人の皆さんに限らず多くの人により開かれた印象を持ってもらうため、この度、私たちにとって重要なこの定期イベントの名前を「Japanese Language Club in Amstelveen」刷新しました。

イベントの名前以外は何も変わりはありません。これまで通り、皆さんと一緒にリラックスしてカジュアルに会話の練習やゲームを楽しみましょう。

ーレベルに関わらず、日本語に興味をもっている方。
ー日本での生活や旅行の経験を誰かとシェアしてみたい方。
ー新旧問わず日本文化に関する知識を交換したい方。
ーそして特に日本出身の方には、馴染みの深い自国文化をテーマに英会話力を維持・向上させたい方。
この様な方々ならどなたでも歓迎します。

最後に私から一つ、皆さんにシェアしたい個人的な目標があります。それは「一期一会」の精神です。対面のイベントでもチャットグループでも、お互いに優しさと尊敬の精神をもって対話し、思いやりのある温かいコミュニティを作りましょう！

私たちのイベントを通して、皆さんがこのグループでそれぞれの楽しみをみつけてくれることを心から願っています。
