Bicycle parade "For the Wind"/ Fietsparade "Voor de Wind"

Fietsparade 'Voor de Wind' (For the Wind) is an initiative from the citizens movement 'Amsterdam, kies voor Groene Energie' or 'Amsterdam, choose for Green Power' , together with allied organizations. Here you can find the route on Googlemaps:

We've been acting on this campaign since June 2016 to push the municipality of Amsterdam to switch to a 100% green contract for its electricity supply. Our petition is still online and have reached more than 2400 people, and is aimed to put even more pressure to the Mayor on his sustainability policy. And with this event we want to do more to protect Amsterdam against climate change, including supporting the construction of more sustainable energy sources, from wind and solar.

Going forward, the Province of North-Holland have made it harder in their energy policy to implement new wind farms, with even stronger rules than in the rest of the country. This is an absurd thing that the Province is applying a cap for the wind energy capacity slowing down the energy transition while it should be speeded up. And for a lot of the Amsterdam sustainable energy associations, NGO’s and citizens of North-Holland this is not acceptable.

We want to get a broader coalition of inhabitants and organizations from North Holland and we think a bike parade would be a great idea. For the Wind, come along, get your bike ready and invite everybody you know!
